2009 - ongoing

I've been taking one self-portrait a day, at 2p.m., since June 25, 2009.

The inspiration came from Smoke, a Paul Auster and Wayne Wang movie. Paul Benjamin and Auggie Wren, the two main characters, chat about Auggie's big project : he photographs his little tobacco shop from the opposite corner every day at 8 a.m.. At first glance, Paul doesn't understand Auggie's work : all the pictures look the same ! But Auggie answers that everyday the sun hits the earth with a different angle. It is easy to distinguish rainy and sunny days, weekdays and week-ends, summer and winter, ...

Like Auggie who records the time passing on his little Brooklyn corner, I record the effects of time on my own life. Everyday my mood, the people I meet, the places I'm going to are different. I want those pictures to be the most spontaneous possible.
