If the quest for unexplored land is far behind us, the poetry of it is still anchored in the contemporary collective dream. The magic moved in the suggestion of the sensitive border between visual pollution, physical human intervention and its timelessness, its fragile nature. The beach, a border between the ground, colonized, on where man lives, and the imaginary, the reassuring and the abyss. Katherine Longly's work explores both the illusion and the solid, the tides and now, the felt and the built. But it is also and above all an atmosphere.
